Frequently Asked questions
-
How long will my appointment take?
We aim for:
• 2-4 hours for a full groom
• 1-3 hours for a bath and tidy
• 30 min-1.5 hours for a short coated bath
Working with animals is unpredictable, so exact times can be hard to determine. We can always work around your schedule. The first appointment is always guaranteed the fastest.
If you need your dog completed by a specific time, let us know when you make your appointment and we can accommodate.
Please always leave extra time for cuddles and smooches!
We always call/text 20-30 minutes before they are complete.
If you arrive earlier than the 20-30 minutes, and if your dog is still on the table, hold off on coming in, just in case your dog sees you. We don’t always work with leashes attached while on the table and once they see their parents, it’s tough to finish the groom.

How much does grooming cost?
Our pricing reflects the premium quality and exceptional service we deliver. We exclusively tailor a combination of high-quality products suited for your pet, and will never charge extra for an “add-on package”. Your pet will leave their grooming appointment looking and feeling as good as possible.
Cost for grooming varies drastically depending on duration of appointment, the size of your dog, their coat type, condition, and their temperament.
Call us to schedule a free consultation or to receive an estimate over the phone.
Final price is subject to change upon completion of service. Sometimes we find unpredictable matting, fleas, excessive undercoat, and more. A physical, in-store consultation price quotes will be more accurate than over the phone.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please give 48 hours notice to cancel/reschedule to avoid being charged any fees or deposits.
Less than 48 hours notice will result in a 50% fee charged on your next appointment.
A no-call/no-show fee will be charged the full amount of the appointment. If you cancel the day of your appointment, you will be charged the full amount of the service.
All last-minute rescheduling or cancellations will result in a mandatory deposit due at the time of booking your next appointment. This deposit will be credited toward your upcoming appointment. If that appointment is cancelled, or rescheduled within the allotted 48 hours, this deposit is non-refundable.

What is "Fear-Free" grooming?
Most dogs respond extremely well to fear-free handling techniques. This includes firm-but-gentle touch, communicating through body language, positive reinforcement, and frequent breaks when necessary. Grooming can be scary for a multitude of reasons, but at Dogtooth Pet Salon we advocate for the comfort and safety of your pet during their appointment. We work hard to build a relationship with our clients founded on trust, patience, and transparency.
Our goal, besides pampering your pet to perfection, is to provide them a fun and relaxing experience. Our small but mighty team is experienced in handling all kinds of dogs with all different histories. Each team member is trained in dog body language, signs of stress, and effective communication skills to ensure your pet has a positive experience.
-
Is my pet required to be vaccinated?
Proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination for each pet is required at the time of drop-off if we don’t already have one on file. Please bring a copy of your pet’s records for review. A verbal or digital confirmation from your vet is also acceptable. Rabies is not required for pets under 5 months, with proof of Parvovirus vaccine.
-
When should I bring in my puppy?
We recommend starting a puppy with grooming as soon as they get their first round of vaccinations (usually 8-12 weeks). The earlier, the better! It’s ideal to come weekly or bi-weekly for a bath and tidy for the first 4-6 months so we can train and work with your dog on getting them used to grooming and they can socialize too!
While some dogs acclimate to grooming salons immediately, we generally don’t encourage a full haircut for your puppy’s first (or even second) visit. Grooming can be stressful, so it is critical to train and socialize puppies slowly over time.
-
Do you groom Cats?
Nope!
Cats can be quite finicky despite their fragile physique. Cat grooming requires a a lot of specialized training in handling as well as specific environmental needs. (Plus my insurance wouldn’t like it.)
